Welcome to Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice’s blog! This is YOUR blog, for you to share your thoughts, your experiences, your questions and your suggestions. We hope it will become an interactive resource where you can share your experiences taking our Minimum Wage Challenge; talk about films you saw in our Economic Justice film festival (coming to a congregation near you in the fall); share new films, books, websites, and other resources you’ve found useful; share sermons and sermon ideas; and talk about the issues that you care about.
This has been a busy summer for Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice, as we have been working on our Minimum Wage Challenge and our Economic Justice film festival. These programs are a part of a larger effort to build a Living Wage Campaign – reaching out to sister organizations to forge partnerships toward a coordinated, state-wide, campaign to raise Wisconsin’s minimum wage to a living wage level. We define ‘living wage’ broadly, to include a living wage, livable hours, paid sick leave and family leave, access to affordable health care, affordable quality child-care, and public transportation. As such, the term ‘living wage’ seems too narrow. I’d like to issue a challenge to you all to help us come up with a better term for the campaign, which encompasses all these issues and also brings in the faith aspect of our work. Send in your ideas to this blog or to me at rabbibonnie@charter.net. We’ll post all the suggestions and ask you all to vote on what you like best.
I am looking forward to reading your posts and your comments to our posts as we move forward together!
