Clergy and leaders from Christian, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, and Nature religions are coming together on November 16 AT 10:00 am for a virtual press conference to advocate for adherence to guidelines to wear masks, maintain social distancing, and refrain from gatherings of more than ten people. The faith leaders also are calling upon elected officials to pass meaningful legislation to enforce these measures and to address the growing economic fallout from the pandemic. They also want to express gratitude both for health care workers and chaplains who are on the front lines, risking infection themselves while working to help patients and their families, and for public health officials, trying to manage an epidemic in communities across the state.
The Faith Leaders COVID Safety Pledge was created by the Wisconsin Council of Churches and Wisconsin Faith Voices for Justice and signed by over 220 clergy and faith leaders, representing Protestant, Historically Black, and Orthodox Christian traditions, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Nature Spirituality. Leaders of congregations; and organizations such as camps, campus ministries, long-term care facilities, faith-based mental health care. The Pledge affirms the interfaith community’s commitment to preserving life and keeping Wisconsin healthy and safe in the face of the pandemic.

Please join Kids Forward in writing a letter to Senators Baldwin and Johnson urging them to fight for a federal aid package that will keep our states, including Wisconsin, from the looming economic disaster that will ensue without federal funding. |
Masks and Racism
Wearing masks save lives, but some in communities of color are concerned about unequal and racist treatment for wearing, or not wearing, a mask. If you witness someone being treated differently because of the color of their skin, speak up, speak out! |
Free Masks
Mask wearing is now mandatory in Madison and Milwaukee, but not everyone can afford to buy a mask, much less multiple masks for themselves and their families. Dane County Mask Makers is making and providing free masks. If you need a free mask, if your congregation or organization can distribute free masks to your community, or if you can volunteer to help make masks, please visit their website. |
Required Face Coverings
Effective on Monday, July 13, 2020, Public Health Madison & Dane County is issuing Emergency Order #8, which requires that everyone age 5 and older wear a face covering or mask when in in any enclosed building where other people, except for members of the person’s own household or living unit, could be present. This requirement applies to all of Dane County. |
