poverty simulationIn a time when access to basic needs such as food, housing, and health care are being sharply curtailed, it is more important than ever that communities of faith take up the challenge to move beyond charity, to justice.
Poverty Simulations help participants to gain insights into the daily life challenges faced by low-income and poor citizens of Wisconsin. The simulation also provides an opportunity to explore societal perspectives and discuss public policies on poverty. Unless we get engaged in the public policy debates, we’re going to be running food pantries and homeless shelters to the end of time. - Rabbi Bonnie Margulis, President of WFVJ “It was very useful to talk with other folks about the experiences and then extrapolate during lunch. The simulation informed a meaningful conversation.” – Christa Fisher “This was a really good reminder of how difficult life can be for others.” – Allie Marshall |
