As we prepare to sit down to our annual Thanksgiving feasts, we take this time to reflect on the many gifts and blessings in our lives for which we give thanks. There are many things for which I am deeply grateful. I'd like to share a few of them with you:
1. For all of you, WFVJ friends and supporters, clergy, member congregations and allies and partners - we could not exist without your help, your shared voices, your ongoing support and good work!
2. For WFVJ's wonderful board of directors, who provide guidance, advice, wisdom, insights, and many volunteer hours - I am ever grateful for your warmth, your support, your help and your friendship!
3. For the steering committee and member organizations of the Dignity at Work Coalition (formerly the Alliance for a Just Wisconsin) - thank you for sharing in my vision and coming together to form this joint venture to work for economic justice for Wisconsin's workers!
4. For all the many national and state-wide organizations that work tirelessly every day, upon whose research and resources I depend to help me stay informed and to provide the most up-to-date information for all of you on all our issues, I am deeply grateful.
Have a wonderful, joyous, and healthy Thanksgiving!

THOUGHTS FOR THANKSGIVING
- As we sit down to our feast and survey the bounty of our table, let us remember those whose tables are not full, who struggle every day to feed their families. Let us be grateful for programs such as SNAP and free and reduced breakfasts and lunches for school children, and WIC and other nutrition programs. Let us pledge this Thanksgiving to do all in our power to keep these programs vital and to make them stronger. Go to frac.org to learn more.
- As the conversation ensues at the dinner table, and talk turns to our nation's economic woes, and Uncle Harry launches into his annual speech about 'what's wrong with this country', let us be grateful for the Economic Policy Institute blog on how to talk about the economy at the Thanksgiving table. Read the blog here and be prepared!
- As we remember the story of Thanksgiving and recall that the Pilgrims were refugees from religious persecution, let us be grateful for organizations like Faith in Public Life, which stands up for today's refugees.
