What happens when an undocumented teen mother takes on the U.S. immigration system? Taking us into detention centers, immigration courts, and the inner lives of Aida and other daring characters, The Death and Life of Aida Hernandez reveals the human consequences of militarizing what was once a more forgiving border. A study guide for congregations is available here Congregations are encouraged to hold book groups to read and discuss the book together. The author will come to Madison on October 8 at Central Library, the Madison Room, 7:00 to 9:00 pm, to give a talk and hold a discussion about the book and the issues raised in it about our broken immigration system. Copies are available at Madison's Central Library and at A Room of One's Own. WFVJ is a proud member of:
