conversations with african american and jewish teens
In 2023, nine high school students embarked on a project to create a joint podcast series in which they would share their lived experiences as Jewish and African American teens growing up in Dane County, Wisconsin. They call the series “The Talk.”
Conversations over five episodes ranged from sharing information from their respective cultures about food, clothing, music, and faith traditions, to discussions around the education system, to comparing notes about racism and antisemitism and what it is like to grow up African American and Jewish in a predominantly white and Christian society. Discussions were lively, sometimes serious, sometimes funny, sometimes joyful. |
